    Sweden Names Roster For First Women's Euro Hockey Tour Event

    Sweden has named their national team roster for the first event of the Women's Euro Hockey Tour in Kloten, Switzerland, which gets underway August 29.

    Headlining Sweden's roster are PWHL Boston's Emma Söderberg in net, defender Maja Nylén-Persson of PWHL New York, and PWHL Montreal's Lina Ljungblom .

    Three other members of Team Sweden will play in North America this season at the NCAA level including Ida Karlsson (Minnesota-Duluth), Josefin Bouveng (Minnesota), and Thea Johansson (Mercyhurst).

    The remainder of Sweden's roster is set to play in the SDHL this season considered the second best pro women's league in the world behind only the PWHL. MoDo will send a trio of talented young forwards in Mira Hallin, Ebba Hedqvist and Wilma Sundin along with veteran defender Linnéa Andersson. Frölunda also has four members of their 2024-2025 roster heading to Switzerland in defenders Paula Bergström and Nathalie Lidman, and forwards Sofie Lundin and Ella Hellman. Ida Boman, Isabelle Leijonhielm, and Emma Forsgren will represent Sweden from Djurgårdens, while Jenna Raunio, Hilda Svensson, and Elin Svensson are set to play from HV71.

    Rounding out Sweden's roster from the SDHL are two of the nation's top forwards in Sara Hjalmarsson (Linkoping) and Hanna Thuvik (Brynas).

    Hanna Olsson, who has been Sweden's top forward in international play is absent from the lineup after missing almost all of last season with an injury. She returned in time for the SDHL playoffs and World Championships. Also missing from the roster is Anna Kjellbin, who captained Sweden at the 2024 World Championships and Mira Jungaker. Kjellbin was drafted by PWHL Montreal, but currently remains unsigned, while Jungaker is set to begin her rookie season in the NCAA at Ohio State.

    The 2024-2025 Women's Euro Hockey Tour gets underway August 19 in Kloten, Switzerland.
