While the PWHL season itself remains more than three months away, several players who will ultimately end up competing in the PWHL this year have opened their seasons in Europe, both on international sides, and with club teams.

PWHL New York defender Maja Nylen Persson is one of those players, as she's not only playing for Sweden at the Women's Euro Hockey Tour, but she's expected to start the SDHL season with her former club, Brynas , until PWHL camps open in November.

Last year this tactic worked out for a number of players including Ottawa's Katerina Mrazova and Boston's Alina Muller who hit the ground running after spending time with European clubs prior to the inaugural PWHL season.

PWHL Minnesota draft pick Brooke McQuigge, who had signed with MoDo in the SDHL prior to the draft, is also currently in Sweden gaining reps while she prepares to fight for a roster spot in Minnesota this Fall. McQuigge finished her fifth year at Colgate last season before being selected 21st overall in the PWHL Draft by Minnesota.

At the Women's Euro Hockey Tour, a large number of PWHL players and prospects are competing this week including Ronja Savolainen (Ottawa), Noora Tulus (New York), Susanna Tapani (Boston), Nylen Persson (New York), Emma Soderberg (Boston), Lina Ljungblom (Montreal), Denisa Krizova (Minnesota), Tereza Vanisova (Ottawa), Aneta Tejralova (Ottawa), Katerina Mrazova (Ottawa), Klara Hymlarova (Minnesota), Noemi Neubauerova (Toronto), Daniela Pejsova (Boston) , and Klara Peslarova (camp invite, Boston).

Similarly in a Four Nations tournament in Fussen, Germany this week, France's Chloe Aruard (New York) will be in action, as will Germany's Sandra Abstreiter (camp invite, Montreal), and Hungary's Taylor Baker (camp invite, New York).
