Lauriane Rougeau Retires To Take On Hockey Operations Role With Toronto Sceptres

Toronto Sceptres defender Lauriane Rougeau has retired from playing to take on a role as the team's Manager of Hockey Operations.

Last season Rougeau played in all 24 games for Toronto as well as all five of Toronto's playoff games recording an assist in that span. She also scored a memorable shootout winning goal for Toronto.

The Beaconsfield, Quebec product won Olympic and World Championship gold as a member of Team Canada, as well as five silver medals with Canada at the events.

At the University level, Rougeau was an All-American in each of her four seasons with Cornell University. She was also named the Best Defender while captaining Canada at the U-18 World Championships.

Following the NCAA, Rougeau spent five seasons in the CWHL playing for the Montreal Stars and Montreal Canadiennes. In 2019 when the CWHL folded, Rougeau joined the PWHPA playing on the Dream Gap Tour for four seasons, including capturing the final Secret Cup in 2023 playing for Team Harvey's.

Rougeau joins a growing list of players to retire this offseason including fellow Toronto players Brittany Howard, Jess Jones, and Erica Howe, as well as Becca Gilmore, Jess Healey, Gigi Marvin, Melodie Daoust, Brigitte Laganiere, Brittyn Fleming, and Sophia Kunin.
