Deputies: Teen injured in boat crash at Holland South Pier

PARK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities say a teenager was injured when a boat crashed into the Holland South Pier.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office said that around 10:15 p.m. Wednesday it received a report of a boat crash with injuries at the Holland South Pier with one person in the water.

When authorities arrived, the sheriff’s office said a 26-foot boat had crashed into the pier head. The boat was operated by a 69-year-old Holland man with three female passengers, ages 18, 19 and 22.

The 18-year-old was knocked off the boat during the crash and fell into the water and rocks on the Lake Macatawa channel side of the pier. She was taken to hospital with serious injuries that are not considered life-threatening, according to the sheriff’s office.

The crash remains under investigation.
