MANLIUS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Troopers say a motorcyclist died after being hit by an SUV Wednesday night in Manlius Township.

It happened around 10:45 p.m. at the intersection of 136th Avenue and 58th Street, according to the Michigan State Police.

A Toyota SUV was heading east on 136th Avenue when it ignored the flashing red light and stop sign at the intersection, troopers say. They say the SUV then hit a southbound motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet and had the right of way.

The motorcyclist, a 62-year-old man from Bloomingdale, died on scene, according to MSP. His name was not released Thursday.

The occupants of the SUV were not hurt. Investigators do not believe alcohol was involved in the crash.

State police reminded drivers to look twice at intersections.

“MSP would like to remind motorists that motorcycles are closer than they appear. (Their) smaller size and single headlights make their speed and distance harder for drivers to judge, especially at intersections,” the agency stated.

    Troopers continue to investigate.

Look twice, save a life. Prayers for this family, as they travel the road less traveled. 🙏
