GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The body of a woman last seen at an Upper Peninsula beach has been found more than 30 miles away across Lake Michigan.

Michigan State Police have announced an unidentified body washed ashore on the western shore of Beaver Island on August 9 is Kristen Terrian. WLUC-TV reports Terrian was a 39-year-old who lived in Gulliver.

She was last seen on Aug. 2 on Michibay Beach near Manistique Township Park on the southern coast of the U.P.

MSP says dental records were used to confirm the body’s identity. An autopsy to determine her cause of death along with other tests are still ongoing.

“This is not the outcome any of us wanted,” F. Lt. Mike Shaw said in a statement. “We offer our condolences to Kristen’s family and our community.”

The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the MSP Manistique Outpost.
