KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Police say a 13-year-old boy is in critical condition after a shooting in Kalamazoo.

The shooting happened around 11:05 a.m. Friday on the 1000 block of Interfaith Boulevard, near Woodward Avenue, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.

Police say when they arrived, they found the 13-year-old with a gunshot wound.

He was given medical attention and taken to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition, police said Friday night.

KDPS is investigating what led up to the shooting. As of Friday evening, police say no arrests have been made, but they have interviewed several people and recovered a gun that they believe was involved.

“KDPS remains committed to ensuring the safety of our community and will continue to
provide updates as the investigation progresses,” police wrote in a release.
