MSP: Man kills wife, then shoots himself outside White Pigeon McDonald’s

WHITE PIGEON, Mich. (WOOD) — A man allegedly shot and killed his wife before shooting and injuring himself outside a fast food restaurant in White Pigeon on Friday, troopers said.

Around 4:30 p.m., troopers with the Michigan State Police were sent to the parking lot of the McDonald’s located near the intersection of US-131 and West Chicago Road.

MSP said that a separated married couple from Sturgis met at McDonald’s for their customary child exchange. While the 25-year-old woman was sitting in her vehicle and the 29-year-old man was standing outside, there was an argument.

The man allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot the woman multiple times before shooting himself.

The woman was taken to the hospital where she died, MSP said. Her name has not been released.

The man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

No one else was hurt.

MSP said that the couple’s children were not there at the time of the shooting and were with other family members.

State police are investigating.
