KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Stuntman extraordinaire and stand-up comic Steve-O paid an action-packed visit to Kalamazoo this week.

The comedian, who came to fame in the early 2000s for his role in the Jackass franchise, brought his stand-up tour to the Kalamazoo State Theatre Friday evening.

But that’s not all Steve-O did in Kalamazoo. He also made a stop at a local public safety station and filmed a stunt along the way — and the visit was caught on camera. You can watch the video on the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety’s Facebook page.

“Hey everybody, I’m Steve-O here at Kalamazoo Public Safety. And I’ve never felt less safe in my life,” he jokes in the video.

KDPS told News 8 that the stuntman and his film team arrived at Station 2 around 3:15 a.m. Friday. Then, he spent the night — until KDPS gave him a jarring wake-up call around 7:30 a.m.

“After an awesome surprise visit with our crew, Steve-O decides to spend the night in the bay right next to our fire trucks,” the department wrote in its Facebook post. “But when he wakes up, he doesn’t do it like the rest of us. He requested a sunrise wake-up call with a fire hose!”

The video shows firefighters creep into the bay, where Steve-O is fast asleep. But he doesn’t stay that way for long, jumping up and running away as firefighters blast him with the hose.

When all is said and done, Steve-O can be seen smiling and high-fiving the firefighters.

“How’d you sleep?” one firefighter asks.

    “Not so good,” Steve-O responds.

“You’re already showered. That’s good,” the firefighter says.

The department of public safety told News 8 that Steve-O and his crew spent plenty of time at the station, taking photos and enjoying breakfast with the team.

“It’s not every day we get to host someone like Steve-O, and he made a genuine connection with our crew, showing a real interest in what we do,” Chief David Boysen said in a statement. “We’re incredibly thankful for the opportunity to showcase both our department and our city.”
