POKAGON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man was taken to the hospital after crashing into a cornfield north of Niles Monday.

Just after noon, a 26-year-old Dowagiac man was driving north on M-51 near Thompson Road in Pokagon Township when he lost control of his vehicle, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

He crossed the center line and drove into a cornfield, deputies said.

He was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance. Deputies say the driver was not wearing his seatbelt.

    The sheriff’s office is investigating.
