    10 West Michigan clinics to get funds for free, low-cost services

    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Ten West Michigan health clinics are receiving funding from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.

    As part of the 20-year celebration for its “Strengthening the Safety Net” program, BCBS Michigan is awarding $914,000 in grants to 48 health clinics across the state. The money is meant to support free or low-cost medical, dental and behavioral health services, the network said in a news release.

    Strengthening the Safety Net provides over 185,000 free or low-cost visits per year for vulnerable Michigan residents, BCBS said.

    Clinics in the following West Michigan communities were awarded up to $25,000:

    • Grand Rapids: Baxter Community Center, Exalta Health, Mel Trotter Ministries
    • Holland: Holland Free Health Clinic
    • Grand Haven: Love in Action of the Tri-Cities
    • Marshall: Fountain Clinic
    • Zeeland: City on a Hill Ministries

    Clinics in the following West Michigan communities were awarded up to $15,000:

    • Grand Rapids: Oasis of Hope Center
    • Coldwater: Presbyterian Health Clinic of Branch County
    • Allegan: Renewed Hope Health Clinic
