GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Michigan Lottery said a Kent City man won $500,000 from a scratch-off ticket.

The 55-year-old man, who remained anonymous, bought the winning Luxury Cashword ticket at the Kent Mini Mart in Kent City.

He told the Michigan Lottery that he had the store clerk pick the winning ticket.

“I buy instant tickets one or two times a month, but I don’t usually play Cashword games,” the player said in a news release. “I was at the store and had $10 in my pocket, so I asked the clerk to give me a $10 ticket, and he handed me this Luxury Cashword ticket.”

The Michigan Lottery said the man plans to buy a house and a new truck with his winnings.
