Woman killed in Maple Grove Twp crash

MAPLE GROVE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Drugs are believed to be a factor in a crash that killed a woman Friday morning in Maple Grove Township, deputies said.

Around 7:30 a.m., deputies with the Barry County Sheriff’s Office were sent to the area of M-66 and Guy Road for a crash.

Responding deputies learned that a Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by a 32-year-old Vermontville woman, was heading northeast on M-66 and veered off the road before hitting a tree.

The woman died at the scene, the sheriff’s office said.

Investigators believe that drugs were a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
