GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Vice presidential candidate JD Vance will visit the Big Rapids area next week as Republicans continue to blitz in battleground Michigan.

A Friday news release said Vance would talk about the economy, inflation and manufacturing on Tuesday afternoon .

He will be hosted by Majestic Friesians Horse Farms, the same farm where Republican U.S. Senate candidate Mike Rogers held a rally this week in opposition a planned electric vehicle battery plant by Chinese-owned Gotion. When he was last in West Michigan , Vance’s remarks included criticism of policies that encourage the building and purchasing of EVs.

One rally criticizes, another praises Gotion plant near Big Rapids

The Big Rapids-area stop will mark Vance’s fourth trip to Michigan since the junior senator from Ohio was named former President Donald Trump’s running mate on July 15. He was with Trump at a rally in Grand Rapids July 20, at a police department in southeast Michigan Aug. 7 and at a materials trucking company south of Grand Rapids Aug. 14. Trump himself will be in Detroit Monday to speak at the National Guard Association general conference .

Both sides hope winning the combination of Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania will offer them a clear path to the White House. A recent poll from the Cook Political Report Swing State Project showed a tight race in Michigan: Vice President Kamala Harris had a 3-point lead over Trump, a statistical tie considering the poll’s margin of error of plus or minus 4.9%.

The presidential election is Nov. 5.
