KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — No one was hurt when a fire broke out on the roof of Saugatuck Brewing Saturday morning.

Around 10 a.m., crews with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety were sent to Saugatuck Brewing on E Michigan Avenue near Portage Street for a fire.

Responding crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof.

KDPS said the fire was under control within 30 minutes.

    No one was hurt.

Eastbound Michigan Avenue at Rose Street and northbound Portage Road at South Street were closed. They have since reopened.

Saugatuck Brewing posted a statement on Facebook saying that it is “temporarily closed due to a fire in the building. We will announce any updates as we learn them, all we know right now is that it did not start in our brewpub, but above us. As far as we know, everyone is safe.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the Fire Marshall’s Office at 269.337.8260 or Silent Observer at 269.343.2100.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
