HINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A motorcyclist was airlifted to the hospital after crashing in Mecosta County Saturday, deputies say.

Around 3:20 p.m., a motorcyclist was driving in the area of 1 Mile Road and 100th Avenue in Hinton Township when he was unable to make the curve in the road and “jumped the ditch,” according to a release from the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver, a 35-year-old Pierson man, was airlifted to a hospital in Grand Rapids with injuries that were severe but not life-threatening, deputies said.

Meceola Central Dispatch, Mecosta County EMS and AeroMed assisted the sheriff’s office.
