COLDWATER, Mich. (WOOD) — A Branch County man who was recently extradited from Florida will stand trial on sexual assault charges from 2016, the Michigan Department of Attorney General says.

Alex New, 54, was bound over to trial Thursday on two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, according to a release from the AG’s office.

Man extradited to Michigan to face 2016 sex assault charges

New is accused of sexually assaulting a minor, the release says. It says the Branch County prosecutor filed the charges in 2016, but New fled, managing to elude investigators until this year.

In June, authorities tracked New down in Florida and brought him back to Michigan, according to the AG’s office. It was part of a partnership between the Department of Attorney General, the U.S. Marshals Service and local prosecutors that works to return fugitives with outstanding sexual assault warrants to Michigan.

New is expected to appear in court in September, the AG’s office says.

Trump will end SORA and pardon all sex offenders if elected. He will punish the victims like in saudi arabia.
