OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Police are looking for the driver of an SUV they say hit a bicyclist, causing the rider to be hospitalized.

The crash happened around 7 a.m. Saturday on S. 9th Street near Atlantic Avenue in Oshtemo Township, according to Michigan State Police. A bicyclist was headed north on S. 9th Street when a dark-colored SUV hit the bike from behind.

The bicyclist, who police say was wearing a helmet and bright clothing, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, according to MSP.

The driver of the SUV did not stop and was last seen headed south on S. 9th Street, MSP said. Troopers are looking for the driver of the SUV and say the vehicle is likely to have front end damage and possibly a shattered windshield.

Anyone with information should call the MSP Paw Paw post at 269.657.5551 or Kalamazoo County Silent Observer at 269.343.2100.
