ZEELAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Deputies say a passenger was airlifted to the hospital with critical injuries after a crash in Zeeland Township.

It happened around 12:20 p.m. Wednesday at 84th Avenue and Adams Street, according to a release from the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.

A 59-year-old Holland woman was heading west on Adams Street in a Mitsubishi Outlander, deputies say. They say the woman slowed down to turn south on 84th Avenue but finished the turn in front of an eastbound Jeep Grand Cherokee, which was driven by a 19-year-old Zeeland man.

According to the sheriff’s office, the passenger in the Outlander — an 86-year-old Grand Haven woman — was taken to the hospital by Aero Med with critical injuries, while the driver was hospitalized with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The driver of the Jeep was not hurt, deputies say.

    The sheriff’s office is investigating.
