BERTRAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — State police are asking for help after a “Welcome to Pure Michigan” sign in Berrien County was found riddled with bullet holes.

The sign on the northbound US-31 bypass in Bertrand Township was shot 18 times, apparently with rifle rounds, the Michigan State Police said.

Troopers say they don’t have any suspects.

“To the lawless individual(s) responsible for this reckless use of a firearm,” state police wrote in a social media post , “once your identity is known you will be charged & prosecuted to the highest extent of the law!”

If you know anything, you’re asked to contact the MSP Niles Post at 269.683.4411.
