GRANDVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) — An 11-year-old was taken to the hospital after being hit by a vehicle Wednesday in Grandville, police said.

Around 2:45 p.m., a child turned on the crosswalk lights at Wilson Avenue and Edgewood Street and began to cross Wilson Avenue. The vehicle in the right southbound lane stopped, but the vehicle in the left southbound lane did not and hit the child, according to Grandville Police.

The child was taken to the hospital with what police believe are minor injuries.

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.

In a release, the Grandville Police Department reminded drivers to yield the right-of-way to all pedestrians in crosswalks.
