    GRPD: Man dies of his injuries after shooting

    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Grand Rapids Police Department says a man has died of his injuries after a shooting last week.

    The man died Wednesday, police say. They say his death has been ruled a homicide.

    The shooting happened Sept. 6 in the area of Turner Avenue NW and 10th Street NW. When officers arrived on scene, they found the man inside a crashed vehicle. He was taken to the hospital with critical injuries, according to police.

    At the time, GRPD Chief Eric Winstrom that it appeared that the shooter was in a separate vehicle that left the area.

    “One of the things that we’re looking at is the possibility that this is crime-related, maybe drug-related because this is somewhat, actually, it’s a very safe area, and it’s somewhat secluded from eyes,” Winstrom previously said . “The potential being that this was the location chosen by individuals to meet up for some sort of illicit activity. It’s something that we’re looking into and it’s a possibility.”

    Police declined to release the victim’s name or any information about a suspect.
