1 killed, 1 hurt in Porter Township rollover crash

PORTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — One person was killed and another was hurt in a Friday evening rollover crash in Porter Township.

Around 11:30 p.m., deputies with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office were sent to the area of Teasdale Lake Street west of Robbins Lake Road for a crash.

Responding deputies learned that a vehicle was heading westbound on Teasdale Lake Street at a high speed. The driver lost control of the vehicle which flipped on its top, slid down an embankment and hit a tree before coming to a stop.

The driver died at the scene, the sheriff’s office said. Their name has not been released.

The passenger was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The sheriff’s office said that the passenger was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash but the driver was not.

Deputies believe that alcohol and drugs are contributing factors.

The crash remains under investigation.
