LANSING, Mich. (WLNS/WOOD) — Vice President and presidential candidate Kamala Harris will campaign in Detroit later this week, according to the Harris-Walz campaign.

At this time details on the stop are limited to it happening on Thursday at an unknown location in metro Detroit.

Harris is expected to be joined by media icon Oprah Winfrey for a livestreamed rally dubbed “United for America 2024” at 8 p.m. ET Thursday.

Former President Donald Trump and vice presidential candidate JD Vance will also be in Michigan this week.

JD Vance to campaign in Sparta Township

Vance, the junior senator from Ohio, will be in Sparta Township on Tuesday afternoon. He will be at Apple Valley Events, located at 2124 12 Mile Rd. NW , and is expected to speak at 1:30 p.m. He is expected to address inflation and immigration, according to a release from the campaign. Tickets can be reserved by visiting the Trump campaign’s website.

On Tuesday evening, Trump is expected to hold a town hall at the Dort Financial Center in Flint. Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders will moderate it, and the discussion will focus on the auto industry and economy. The event is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Tickets to attend the event are available online .

Presidential race in Michigan stays tight, new poll shows

Michigan is a vital state on the path to the White House. Last week, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the Democratic vice presidential candidate, stopped in West Michigan on Thursday for several campaign events.

An EPIC-MRA poll released at the end of August indicated a tight race in Michigan: 47% of those surveyed said they would vote for former President Donald Trump and 46% for Vice President Kamala Harris. The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus 4%, so the results represented a statistical tie.
