MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — Police are asking for the public’s help to find the man accused of shooting and killing another man at a party in Muskegon.

“Keep a lookout for this individual. Take a good look at the picture,” Muskegon Department of Public Safety Director Tim Kozal said Monday. “If you see him, let us know. We want to be able to put this person in custody as soon as we can.”

Deangelo Omar Bolden-Sims, 38, is wanted for murder in the death of Carlos Piggee, 48, of Muskegon Heights.

Muskegon police: Deadly shooting stemmed from dispute

He said Bolden-Sims is still believed to be in Michigan, but not in Muskegon. He said police still hope “maybe the suspect will turn themself in.”

“Some of the things that we were trying to work with him and his attorney didn’t pan out — he did not turn himself in,” Kozal said. “We’ve been diligent trying to locate him; has not panned out.”

Now, he said, “it’s time to get the public’s help.”

Bolden-Sims stands about 5-foot-10 and weighs about 155 pounds, police said. Anyone with information about where he may be is asked to call Muskegon police at 231.724.6750 or Silent Observer at 231.722.7463.

“I would stay that you still want to consider him dangerous, a dangerous individual,” Kozal said.

The shooting happened the night of Aug. 31 in the area of Beidler Street and W. Forest Avenue. Police say Bolden-Sims and Piggee, who had a previous dispute, both wound up at the same party.

“There was a very short interaction and the offender wound up taking the life of our victim,” Kozal told News 8 earlier this month.

Program works to intervene before Muskegon youth involved in violence

He said the shooting was an isolated incident and not related to any other violence elsewhere in the Muskegon area on the same weekend. He said it did not involve drugs or gangs. Piggee and the suspect had known each other for a while.

“This is an instance where someone was just too angry and took out their frustrations, unfortunately, in an act of violence,” Kozal previously said.

Editor’s note: Police originally provided an incorrect spelling of Bolden-Sims’s name. The story has been updated with a corrected spelling.
