OAKFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A driver was killed in a vehicle fire following a crash on M-57 in Oakfield Township early Saturday morning.

Around 4:10 a.m., troopers with the Michigan State Police were sent to the intersection of M-57 and Old 14 Mile Road for a vehicle fire

Responding troopers learned that a vehicle left the road and hit several driveway embankments before it rolled several times and caught fire.

MSP said the driver was unable to be pulled from the vehicle and died at the scene. Their name has not been released.

Both lanes of M-57 were closed due to the fire. The Michigan Department of Transportation said shortly after 8 a.m. that it had reopened.

The vehicle fire remains under investigation.
