CEDAR SPRINGS, Mich. (WOOD) — Seniors Jordan Vu and Konor Shotko are working on a special project for TV class this fall.

It’s based on the reality sports documentary “Hard Knocks,”ut this one focuses on the Cedar Springs High School football team.

They weren’t sure the head football coach would go for the idea.

“He’s kind of a tougher coach, if that makes sense. We were kind of nervous to ask him about it,” Shotko said.

But they did ask, and coach gave the show the thumbs up.

“After our first episode, we got a lot of community feedback. It was all love,” Vu said.

The two seniors say they’ve had excellent access, but they admit it can be a grind being up early with the team for 7 a.m. lifts and spending so much time documenting meetings and practices.

“Honestly, the extra time outside of school. We’ve probably put 60 hours a week two weeks into it. It’s really time consuming,” Vu said.

But the project has Shotko considering a career in TV.

“I just want to be at one point where I could possibly be on ESPN or Fox Sports or one of those bigger sports broadcasting teams,” Shotko said. “I just feel like that would be so much fun to travel with a group and be on the site at games and see all the action.”

Despite all the hours and the grind, the two seniors are enjoying the challenge.

“We love it so much that we wouldn’t trade it for anything,” Vu said.

“It’s obviously not like Hard Knocks. Not the whole world is seeing it,” Shotko said. “But the people in Cedar Springs that have seen it I feel like we’re doing a great job.”
