Spring Lake marina expanding to make room for bigger boats

FERRYSBURG, Mich. (WOOD) — A Spring Lake marina is expanding so that it can fit larger boats.

Keenan Marina is adding new 60-foot slips, along with a wall that can fit yachts up to 150 feet, it said in a social media post . The new slips are set to be ready next year.

According to its website , the Spring Lake marina at 526 Pine St. near US-31, currently has 200 slips and offers amenities like a clubhouse, a pool and a hot tub.

The new additions are due to the growing popularity of bigger boats, according to the Grand Haven Tribune, which first reported on the expansion.

“We are seeing high demand for larger slips,” marina’s general manager Kyle Haan told the Grand Haven Tribune. “We have been at capacity with a waiting list for many years, so naturally there is a continued demand for us to grow with larger docks.”

He told the Grand Haven Tribune that, along with boats getting bigger, the boating season is getting longer, with boating into October becoming more common.

Keenan Marina also has locations in Grand Haven, Harrison Township and Whitehall. Its other offerings include a showroom, fuel docks and boat storage.
