Woman found dead in vacant office building, Portage police say

PORTAGE, Mich. (WOOD) — Police are investigating after a woman was found dead in a vacant office building in Portage.

Around 3:45 p.m., officers with the Portage Department of Public Safety responded to a property check at the building on Admiral Avenue near Romence Road Parkway. They found a woman dead in an “unsecured vestibule of the building,” police said.

The detective bureau and crime lab conducted a death investigation. The Kalamazoo County Medical Examiner’s Office will help to identify the woman and how she died, according to police.

There is no known threat to public safety, Portage police said.
