NORTON SHORES, Mich. (WOOD) — Book enthusiasts will have an opportunity to meet around 30 Michigan authors during an event near Muskegon this weekend.

On Saturday, Friends of Hackley Public Library will host a Trail of Michigan Authors book fair at the Barnes & Noble at 5275 Harvey St. north of Sternberg Road in Norton Shores. Authors will be there in person for book signings and conversations so community members can meet local writers.

Featured artists include Tirzah Price, Johnathan Rand and Sherri Winston, along with 27 indie authors. Author Monica Amore who wrote “A Flame Under the Moon,” said its important for readers and authors alike.

“I think it’s so important to have those opportunities available for authors and readers because it gets your name out there, especially if you’re self-published … and also because as a reader, there’s so many questions you have about the book,” Amore said.

If you use book fair ID number 12787354 when making a Barnes & Noble purchase in person or online between Saturday and Wednesday (Oct. 9), a portion of book sales will support Friends of Hackley Public Library . For more than 50 years, the nonprofit has been supporting Hackley Public Library in Muskegon by stimulating interest in reading and literacy, helping promote the library’s services and enhancing neighbors’ cultural life.

The book fair’s support of the local library is one reason Amore decided to participate.

“It is so important to support these historic buildings that we have in our community. So I decided to partake in it as well because it’s a chance to meet my readers, connect with more that could possibly want to read my book, it just seems like a really fun opportunity,” Amore said.
