GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Police say a moped driver died at the hospital Friday afternoon after a crash in Grand Rapids.

It happened around 3:30 p.m. on the 1300 block of Sherman Street SE near Giddings Avenue SE, according to a release from the Grand Rapids Police Department.

Investigators believe the moped ran a stop sign and was hit by a car that was heading north on Giddings Avenue, the release says.

Police say the moped driver, described as an adult man, was taken in critical condition to the hospital, where he died.

The other driver stayed on scene and cooperated with officers, according to GRPD.

Authorities continue to investigate. If you know anything, you’re asked to contact Officer Wills at 616.456.3938, Officer Bingel at 616.456.3414 or Silent Observer at 616.774.2345.
