LAWTON, Mich. (WOOD) — After several weeks of delays, M-40 in Lawton is reopening, the Michigan Department of Transportation said.

MDOT said that southbound M-40 as well as northbound M-40 and all cross streets north of 4th Street will be reopening Friday night. Work south of 4th Street will continue through Oct. 14.

“While there still will be some remaining work, including pavement markings and rumble strips, there will be limited impacts on traffic,” MDOT said in a release.

The $10.1 million investment to rebuild and repave more than 3.5 miles was originally planned to reopen in August.

Several businesses were impacted by the lack of traffic. One business is celebrating the opening of M-40.

In a post on Facebook , Longship Brewing Company said it is having a week-long celebration including live music, events, special discounts and new beers and cider cocktails.
