MONTEREY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Two people were killed in a crash with a semi-truck near Hopkins, deputies say.

Around 8:16 p.m. Tuesday, a car was headed west on 134th Avenue in Monterey Township when it did not stop for a stop sign at 30th Street, according to the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office. The car was hit by a semi-truck that was headed north on 30th Street.

Both people in the car were pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said. They were not named by the sheriff’s office.

The driver of the semi was not injured. The truck was loaded with milk and turned over, causing a “large spill,” deputies said. The intersection was closed for investigation and cleanup.
