Frosty morning gives way to warmth

TODAY: Quiet and chilly this morning with a Frost Advisory in effect for most of West Michigan until 9 a.m. Sunshine will warm us up quickly with dry conditions and blue skies.

TONIGHT Clear skies and light winds will make for great viewing of the northern lights forecast to impact the states tonight. For the best chance at seeing the lights, head away from city lights and turn your attention north. If you plan to view them it won’t be quite as cold with temperatures holding in the upper 40s.

FRIDAY Sunshine will be dimmed a bit with high and mid clouds thickening through the day. The breeze will pick up out of the south and that will result in the warmest day of the week with highs in the mid 70s. As a cold front slips in late in the day it will bring with it a small chance of a brief shower late afternoon into the evening. Most of the Football Frenzy should remain dry.

WEEKEND A few more clouds with highs in the mid 60s Saturday and upper 50s Sunday. There is a chance for a shower Saturday especially south of Grand Rapids, but Sunday looks like the better chance for rain out of the two. Sunday’s showers will be more likely during the afternoon.

LOOKING AHEAD Highs in the 50s with a few scattered shower chances are expected to start the next workweek. A few more frost nights are likely, too.

HURRICANE MILTON officially made landfall in Flordia Wednesday evening in Siesta Key as a Cateogry 3 hurricane with winds of 120 mph. Rainfall amounts of 12-18″, 10-15 ft storm surge, and 126 tornado warnings were observed. This is the highest number of tornado warnings ever issued for the State of Flordia in a single day. The center of Milton will exit the east coast of Florida this morning with clearing skies.
