Kentwood PD: Driver cited after going through garage

KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — Police in Kentwood say a driver was cited Thursday after he turned off the road and hit a garage.

It happened around 7:10 a.m. at 44th Street SE and Shaffer Avenue SE, according to the Kentwood Police Department.

Police say an SUV was heading west on 44th Street and turned left, or south, at the intersection — but Shaffer Avenue only extends north.

“There is no roadway leading south from that intersection,” police wrote in an email to News 8.

The SUV ended up going into and through the garage of a home on the 3200 block of 44th Street, according to the police department. No cars were in the garage at the time.

All three occupants of the SUV were sent to the hospital to be evaluated after complaining of minor pain, police say.

Police say the driver, described as a 32-year-old man, was ticketed for a moving violation.
