KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Western Michigan University is partnering with the Kent Career Tech Center to provide high school students in aviation career and technical education programs the opportunity to earn college credits.

The program allows students to earn up to 15 college credits, WMU said in a release. Twelve of the credits will be articulated towards WMU’s aviation technical operations major. The students can dual enroll online at WMU for the additional three credits, which can be applied to the aviation technical operations, flight science, or management and operations majors.

“The aviation industry is in constant need of skilled professionals, and this partnership helps bridge the gap between secondary and post-secondary education. By aligning our programs, we are not only enhancing the educational experience for these students but also contributing to the future workforce in aviation,” Raymond Thompson, dean of WMU’s College of Aviation, said in a release.

The partnership began this school year.
