MUSKEGON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A woman died after a crash where a driver ran a red light in Muskegon Township, police say.

Around 10:20 a.m. Monday, a 17-year-old driver was headed east on Apple Avenue and ran a red light, according to police. At the same time, another vehicle driven by a 68-year-old woman was headed north on Quarterline Road. The first vehicle crashed into the second, police said.

The woman was seriously injured and taken to the hospital, where she later died.

Muskegon Township Police are investigating the crash with help from Michigan State Police.

Editor’s note: Based on an error in a release from police, a previous version of this article misstated the day of the crash. Police later clarified it happened Monday.
