ALLENDALE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — There are going to be hundreds of lighted pumpkins filling the grounds of Second Church in Allendale for their annual pumpkin walk.

Volunteers have been working throughout the week to gut and carve 600 to 700 pumpkins for this year’s display. At 9 a.m. Thursday, volunteers will start setting up the walk, which is a quarter-mile trail behind the church.

The annual walk brings in thousands of visitors each year. This year they expect around 10,000 visitors from Thursday to Saturday.

It runs Thursday through Saturday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will be live music and the theme this year is old town country western.

“A lot of this has been bringing joy to our neighbors. The Lord has blessed us with a beautiful property here, God’s green Earth, to be a blessing to our neighbors and along the way we get to know our community and a way of giving back,” Adam Nordyke, the pastor at Second Church Allendale, said.

The event is free and visitors are encouraged to bring food donations for the church’s pantry. They are looking for donations like canned vegetables, juice boxes and Mac and cheese and more that go to the students in Allendale through the Hand2Hand program.
