LEE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office says a 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection to an attack that sent two people to the hospital earlier this month.

Deputies: 1 shot, 1 stabbed in Lee Township

Anthony Steven Vincent was arrested on Monday by the Michigan State Police Fugitive Team and arraigned Tuesday in Allegan County District Court. He has been charged with assault with intent to murder .

The altercation happened on Oct. 1 at a home in Lee Township. Several people were involved. A 26-year-old man was stabbed multiple times and a 29-year-old was shot.

Investigators believe Vincent is responsible for the stabbing. The person who had been stabbed was taken to a nearby hospital by car. According to police, as that car left the scene, one of the vehicle’s passengers shot someone who was outside. Both the stabbing and shooting victims were hospitalized but were expected to survive.

The shooting suspect turned himself into police. The Allegan County Prosecutor’s Office has not announced whether criminal charges will be filed against that person.

Within hours, investigators labeled Vincent as a person of interest in the case. Sheriff Frank Baker said investigators wanted his recollection of events.

“We want to hear both sides of this story and we want to have a chance to talk to all the witnesses involved and be able to look at the evidence from the scene and have a bigger picture and a better picture of what took place,” Baker said on Oct. 1

If convicted of the assault charge, Vincent faces up to life in prison.
