Second gentleman Emhoff, Mark Cuban to campaign in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Second gentleman Douglas Emhoff and businessman Mark Cuban are expected to campaign in Grand Rapids Sunday for Vice President Kamala Harris.

The two will discuss Harris’ “vision for investing in small businesses,” according to a release from the campaign. Cuban, a celebrity investor on “Shark Tank,” has previously joined Harris on the campaign trail: At a rally in Wisconsin Thursday, he criticized former President Donald Trump’s tariffs proposal.

Emhoff and Cuban will also encourage community members in Grand Rapids to vote early for Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the campaign says.

Across the state of Michigan, early in-person voting must begin by Saturday, Oct. 26, but some communities — like Detroit — may choose to begin earlier. Meanwhile, absentee voting is well underway: The state’s voting dashboard indicates that as of Saturday, just over 1 million absentee ballots have already been returned ahead of the Nov. 5 election.

Michigan is a vital state on the path to the White House, and it’s a tight race. A poll conducted by Emerson College Polling , The Hill and WOOD TV8 and released Oct. 10 showed that the candidates are tied in Michigan, with 49% of voters saying they intended to vote for Harris and 49% for Trump.

Emhoff is also expected to make a campaign stop in Detroit Sunday.
