1 killed, 1 hurt in head-on crash near Hastings

IRVING TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man was killed and a woman was hurt in a Friday afternoon crash near Hastings.

Around 1:20 p.m., deputies with the Barry County Sheriff’s Office were sent to State Road near Wood School Road for a crash.

Responding deputies learned that a southeast Mercury Milan crossed the center line of State road and hit a northwest Lincoln Navigator head-on.

The driver of the Mercury, 23-year-old Tristin Prentice of Hastings, died at the scene, the sheriff’s office said.

The driver of the Lincoln, a 41-year-old Clarksville woman, was taken to the hospital. The extent of her injuries has not been released.

The crash remains under investigation.
