Drop ‘Anchor’ Today at Sewaren’s New Waterfront Tiki Bar

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Anchor’s Tiki Bar officially opens today at the municipal marina along the Sewaren waterfront, just in time to enjoy on Independence Day weekend.

The 215-seat full-service bar will be open from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. today, July 6, and on Sunday, July 7, according to Mayor John E. McCormac.

Anchor’s Tiki Bar is at 616 Cliff Road in Sewaren. The venue has an outdoor stage and a popular local band, “Hollow Molly,” will appear there at 5 p.m. on Sunday, the mayor said. More live performances are being scheduled.

Anchor's offers visitors a scenic waterfront view of Smith’s Creek, and the 77-slip municipal marina. People may bring their own food to Anchor’s or visit one of the nearby food trucks that the town allows in a nearby parking area.

Woodbridge initially wanted to open a full-service restaurant at the marina, but scaled back those plans because the cost was too high.

As part of the $4 million waterfront project, 25 more boat slips are being added to the marina with 11 of them designated as “dock-and-dine” slips. Those will let boaters visit, buy and eat refreshments, or just cast off, municipal officials said.
