WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Two teenagers face attempted murder charges in connection with the July 18th stabbings of two other teens outside a Green Street apartment building, police confirmed today.

Each of the suspects – ages 16 and 17 from Avenel and Iselin – are charged with attempted murder and the possession of weapons for unlawful purposes, police Capt. Damian Neste said.

The four teenagers, apparently acquaintances, were reportedly involved in a fight last Thursday night on the 800 block of Green Street that ended with two teens stabbed several times in their arms, thighs, abdomens and chests, according to police reports.

EMTs took one wounded victim to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, and family members drove the other injured teen to JFK Medical Center in Edison for treatment, police said.

Both young victims sustained non-life threatening injuries. Staff at each hospital said both teens have been discharged to recuperate at their homes.

Woodbridge police Detective Joseph Russyk and Officer Franklin Rosario swiftly identified and arrested the suspects allegedly involved in this incident. Police withheld the identities of the teenage suspects, considered juveniles under state law.

Both teenagers are in custody at the Middlesex County Juvenile Detention Center in North Brunswick, awaiting preliminary juvenile court hearings.

Anyone with information, or videos from the July 18 incident, is asked to contact the Woodbridge Police Dept. at (732) 634-7700 to reach Detective Joseph Russyk, whose investigation is ongoing.
