    “We love all types!”

That’s the word from Legacy Medical Group as it plans for a blood drive in Woodburn from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Friday, June 21, 1475 Mt. Hood Ave.

“We are in a tough time with a high need for blood donors to keep our local hospitals stable with the blood supplies they need, and any additional registrations and word of mouth about blood donation goes a long way,” stressed Legacy Community Engagement Liaison Chris Harrison in a press release sent heralding the blood drive.

Harrison stressed that this is a crucial time for blood donations. He said that the 100 deadliest days occur between Memorial Day and Labor Day as the region’s trauma centers invariable encounter a spike in blood needs due to a seasonal increase in serious vehicular crashes.

Unfortunately, trauma centers are also experiencing more and more gunshot wounds, and those patients often require multiple units of blood and platelet transfusions to treat.

Donors of all blood types are needed, but there is a critical need for universal Type-O donors, which can be transfused to anyone in an emergency.

New and returning blood donors are welcome – and needed to maintain a strong blood and platelet supply to support increasing transfusions in local hospitals.

Donors who are 18+ can also enter to win exciting prizes when donating with Bloodworks Northwest – learn more at www.bloodworksnw.org/win .
