    July 4: There will be plenty of fun throughout the area

    From starting the morning with a pancake breakfast to rodeo action to fireworks to finish the day, this July 4 will have plenty of events to keep area folks busy and entertained.

    Here’s a look at events going on in and around the July 4 holiday in Woodburn, Canby, Molalla and beyond. Check it out.

    Molalla Buckeroo offers more than 100 years of fun

    MOLALLA: The annual Molalla Buckeroo will run July 1-4 at the rodeo grounds.

    Performances run 8 to 11 p.m. each night, with a matinee performance beginning at 1:30 p.m. on July 4. Top rodeo cowboys and cowgirls compete in front of enthusiastic crowds. The event also features vendors, a fireworks display and live music after the performances

    Kiddies Parade kicks off holiday with July 1 eventMOLALLA: The Molalla Kiddies Parade will be held Monday, July 1, beginning at 6 p.m. Check-in and registration begins at 3:45 p.m. at Bohlander Field, across from the Buckeroo entrance.

    This event is free for kids to enter. Early registration is available at ccop.cougars@gmail.com.

    Canby gearing up for annual Independence Day CelebrationCANBY: The City of Canby will once again host its Independence Day Celebration on Thursday, July 4.

    The event is held in and around Wait Park downtown and features a parade, street fair with food and beverage vendors, arts and craft vendors, local nonprofits, a car show, live music and more. Booths open at 9:30 a.m., with the parade starting at 10 a.m. and running throughout downtown.

    There will also be a beer garden, a game truck, kids crafts, the Canby Fire District obstacle course and more running into early afternoon. As always, the evening will conclude with a fireworks display at Trost Elementary at dusk.

    St. Paul getting ready for action-packed July 4ST. PAUL: “A Portrait of St. Paul” will be this year’s theme as the St. Paul Rodeo Parade kicks off at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 4.

    The parade theme is aimed at celebrating the heart and history of this close-knit community, which also serves up one of the nation’s best Independence Day Rodeos. Parade organizers anticipate a fun and colorful community parade with entries from all over the North Willamette Valley.

    The St. Paul Rodeo will have a July 4 double feature with a matinee performance scheduled from 1:30 to 4 p.m. and the regularly scheduled evening show from 7:30 to 10:15 p.m.

    Chicken barbecue offers grilled tastiness at St. JamesMOLALLA: The St. James annual chicken barbecue will be held Thursday, July 4, at the church, 301 Frances St., Molalla

    The chicken dinner, which includes baked potato, coleslaw, roll, and a dessert, will be available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a to-go booth running from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A half-chicken to-go is $9, while a full chicken meal is $15.

    Pancake feed will again kick off July 4 events in CanbyCANBY: The annual July 4 Canby Historical Society pancake breakfast will be held Thursday, July 4, from 7:30 to 10 a.m. at Knight Elementary School in Canby. Cost for the breakfast will be $12 for ages 11 and up, $8 for ages 6-10, and free for children ages 5-under.

    Giant Street Parade returns for another July 4 runMOLALLA: Molalla’s annual 4th of July Giant Street Parade will kick off at 9:30 a.m. on July 4. The Molalla Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Molalla present this annual event.

    The parade begins at Molalla High School and travels through the downtown area of Molalla.

    Let’s run! Three distances available for July 4 racingST. PAUL: The annual Independence Day half marathon, 5K or 10K will be held at Champoeg Park on Thursday, July 4, at 8 a.m. Choose from three distances — half marathon, 5K or 10K. The course runs on paved bike paths and park roads. Get ready to run or walk, eat great food, enjoy Rogue Brewery beer, and listen to some great music.

    Canby’s annual parade rolls through downtown on July 4CANBY: The Canby Independence Day Celebration parade begins at 10 a.m. and should finish about 11 a.m. as it winds its way through the downtown area.

    Candy is passed out by many in the parade, but there is a “no candy zone’ between 3rd and 4th streets on Holly Street.

    Registration closes at 4 p.m. on Friday, June 28. Line-up for the parade is from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. on July 4.

    Mount Angel slates July 4 parade through town

    MOUNT ANGEL: Mount Angel will have a hometown parade on July 4 that sets out at 11 a.m. There will also be fireworks scheduled to begin at 10 p.m.

    Parade participants will gather at JFK High School before rolling out at 11 a.m., heading east on E. Marquam Stree, turning right onto Birch Street and continuing south on Birch to Taylor Street.

    The parade will turn right onto Taylor and proceed to N. Garfield St. At Garfield the parade will turn left and head south on N. Garfield St. The parade will go south on Garfield, passing City Hall and continue to the area close to the intersection with Wilco Highway, disbanding before the parade reaches the highway.

    Molalla’s annual pancake breakfast ready to serve up flavor

    MOLALLA: Open the July 4 festivities with a pancake breakfast put on by the Molalla VFW. This annual breakfast actually gets rolling at 10 p.m. on July 3 and keeps serving until noon on July 4 at Long Park.

    The all-you-can-eat pancake feed features eggs (cooked to order), ham, coffee, milk and juice. Cost is $8 for adults, $6 for children.

    Chuckwagon Breakfast back on the July 4 menu

    WOODBURN: The annual Woodburn Chuckwagon Breakfast will be served from 7 to 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 4, in Legion Park. The all-you-can-eat breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, ham, coffee, milk and juice.

    Admission at the gate is $10 and children ages 12 and under are free. Credit cards are accepted, and donations are gladly welcomed.

    Gervais gearing up to celebrate July 4 in style

    GERVAIS: The Gervais 4th of July Celebration will feature a parade, car and bike show, raffle prizes, kids’ carnival, dunk tank, street vendors and a BBQ rib contest on Thursday, July 4, beginning at noon at Gervais High School.

    Woodburn has fun July 4 plans at Centennial ParkWOODBURN: The Woodburn 4th of July Celebration will be Thursday, July 4, from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. at Centennial Park, 900 Parr Road NE.

    The event will include food vendors with items from tacos to burgers to ice cream and more. There will be live music on the main stage with the Roundhouse Band at 6 p.m. and A Cara O Cruz hitting the stage at 8:30 p.m.

    A fireworks display will be held approximately 10 p.m. that night.

    Annual Firecracker 5K set for run through Molalla on July 4

    MOLALLA: The Firecracker 5K will be held the morning of July 4 in Molalla. The race kicks off shortly before the Molalla Buckeroo Rodeo festivities kick in, with the course following the parade route through downtown Molalla.

    Kids will have plenty to do during July 4 experience in CanbyCANBY: This year’s Independence Day Celebration in Canby will feature something for everyone, including those with a gaming bent. Once again, the July 4 fun will feature a kids zone that will feature arts and crafts, as well as the return of the arcade truck.

    Molalla Nazarene offers parking, food and music during Buckeroo

    MOLALLA: So successful a year, Molalla Nazarene Church has decided to do it again. Once again, the church will offer its large grass area for parking for attendees of the Buckeroo on July 1-4. In addition, the church will offer several food carts from 1 to 10 p.m. each day.

    There will be live music with Kennon Tichrob on July 1 and 3 from 5 to 7 p.m., Timothy James and Alaina Fidanzo on July 2 from 4 to 7 p.m., and DJ Linhart and Lindsay Kimmel on July 4 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. and 5 to 6:30 p.m.

    Multiple food trucks will be on hand – Later Tater, Bobablastic, Big Boy Taco, Red Moon BBQ, RockNLatte, and The Feedshack.

    Parking is by donation with proceeds going to the children and youth funds.

    Brooks slates living history reenactment over 4 days

    BROOKS: There will be a living history re-enactment and vintage trailer rally at the Powerland Heritage Park from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday through Sunday, July 4-7. The event includes “Night Fire” on July 4.

    This event is staged by the Northwest Civil War Council and includes flags of the Civil War, battles, artillery demonstrations, fashion shows and cavalry warmups in simulated Civil War scenarios.

    Admission is $15. Children under 12 are free.
