Woodbury Heights, NJ (WPHL)- Police are investigating a dog’s death at a South Jersey groomer with the owner of the business in custody and facing potential drug charges.

Woodbury police officers were dispatched to K-9 Kingdom around 1 p.m. on July 12th after the business owner, Trevor Hunt, had called the dog’s family to alert them that the dog died in his care.

The dog was a three-year-old border collie-Australian shepherd mix named Harley, and her owners say this groomer is one they have used before.

Following the dog’s suspicious death, police executed a search warrant on the business and discovered a substantial amount of narcotics.

Hunt is currently in custody facing charges of tampering with evidence, resisting arrest, possession of narcotics, and possession of narcotics with intent to distribute.

The family is waiting to learn the official cause of the dog’s death.
