In a news release, a spokesperson for Speaker of the House Joanna McClinton, D-Philadelphia, announced that state Rep. Donna Bullock stepped down Monday and Stephen Kinsey Tuesday. Special elections to fill those vacancies have been set for Sept. 17.

Ardi Torollari Killed In Philadelphia Shooting: Police
Ardi Torollari of Northfield, New Jersey was shot in the chest while sitting in his Volkswagen on the 200 block of South 54th Street, investigators said in a release. Torollari was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries around 6:10 p.m., authorities said. No weapon was recovered from the scene and no arrests were made as of Tuesday, July 16.

Big box store shopping in New Jersey just got smaller
In an ever ugly and sad trend another big box store announced that they are closing a chunk of their stores and trying to reorganize to stay above drowning in debt. National discount retailer Big Lots, with close to 1,400 stores nationally including twenty-seven in Monmouth and Ocean counties here in New Jersey, has announced that they are closing up to forty stores nationally and opening three more. Big Lots closed fifty-two stores in 2023 due to inferior performance.
