LITTLE LEAGUE: Taylor North punches ticket to Junior League World Series for fourth straight year
On Saturday, the Michigan District No. 5 Little League association wrapped up its run of district tournaments with the junior baseball division championship game. Held at Heritage Park in Taylor, this year’s title game featured a familiar name as the perennial powers from Taylor North Little League took on the all-stars from Southgate. And as has been the case in recent history, the locals from Taylor proved once more to be too much to handle for the opposition.

20-year-old Detroit man part of moving crew dies after jumping off boat into Oakland County lake
(CBS DETROIT) - A 20-year-old Detroit man drowned while swimming in an Oakland County lake over the weekend, officials said. The man was part of a crew that was helping a resident move. The victim, identified as Marsalis Quintin Carter, allegedly jumped off the side of a pontoon boat into Taylor Lake in Rose Township Saturday morning and did not resurface.
