(CBS DETROIT) - A 20-year-old Detroit man drowned while swimming in an Oakland County lake over the weekend, officials said. The man was part of a crew that was helping a resident move. The victim, identified as Marsalis Quintin Carter, allegedly jumped off the side of a pontoon boat into Taylor Lake in Rose Township Saturday morning and did not resurface. The lake is located off Hickory Ridge Road.Carter, who lists residences in Detroit and Tuskegee, Alabama, was pronounced dead after an over 13-hour search, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. Motorcyclist sustains serious injuries in crash along LaPlaisance Road
LaSALLE TWP. — A Monroe man suffered serious injuries Saturday night when the motorcycle he was driving struck a guardrail and he was thrown onto an embankment. The crash in LaSalle Township was reported at 9:12 p.m. Saturday, July 20, Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough reported in a news release. The preliminary investigation showed that James R. Miller, 51, of Monroe was driving a red 2008 Yamaha motorcycle westbound on Laplaisance Road passing Lighthouse Road when, for unknown reasons, the motorcycle began to leave the roadway to the north and struck a guardrail causing Miller to be ejected from the motorcycle onto a nearby embankment.
