WOODLAKE, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A man has been arrested for allegedly shooting at law enforcement after a hit and run in Woodlake, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies, along with other agencies, responded to the 23800 block of Avenue 324 in Woodlake for a traffic accident just before 10 p.m. on Thursday. Deputies say they were told that someone in the car had been ejected during the accident but left the scene.

While investigating the incident, sheriff’s officials report someone began shooting at them. The suspect also fired several rounds at the sheriff’s office drone, trying to shoot it out of the air.

Sheriff’s officials say they were able to identify the home the gunfire was coming from by utilizing a drone. The sheriff’s SWAT team was called to the scene and the suspect, identified as 27-year-old Jesse Herrera of Woodlake, was taken into custody without incident.
